On Friday, October 4th, Le Grand High School hosted one of the most anticipated events of the year—the Homecoming float parade. The streets were filled with vibrant colors, creative designs, and an abundance of school spirit as students showcased their incredible craftsmanship and imagination. This year’s theme revolved around iconic superheroes, giving each class the opportunity to channel their favorite heroes and bring them to life.
The parade was a highlight of Homecoming Week, which is traditionally filled with excitement, unity, and friendly competition. Each class participated in the float contest, hoping to take home the coveted first place trophy. Here’s a rundown of how the classes placed and the unique superhero themes they embraced:
1st Place: Juniors – “Spider-Man”
The junior class swung into victory with their impressive “Spider-Man” themed float. Their float featured enormous, detailed Spider-Man webs, with a 3D depiction of the iconic superhero holding back the train. The students creatively incorporated vibrant red and blue colors, with a student dressed as Spider-Man himself, adding to the overall excitement. The float’s design was both eye-catching and full of energy, perfectly capturing the spirit of the friendly neighborhood hero. The juniors’ dedication and teamwork paid off as they took home the top spot.
2nd Place: Seniors – “Batman”
The senior class soared to second place with their dark and mysterious “Batman” themed float. The float featured Gotham City’s famous skyline, complete with the Bat-Signal shining brightly against a backdrop of night skies. The seniors went all out with their design, incorporating iconic Batman symbols, bats, and even a life-sized Batman figure. Dressed as the caped crusader himself, many seniors took on the role of Gotham’s vigilante, portraying the powerful and stoic hero. It was a fitting tribute to the Dark Knight, and their hard work and attention to detail did not go unnoticed.
3rd Place: Sophomores – “Captain America”
The sophomore class honored the brave and patriotic “Captain America” with their float. This float captured the spirit of the superhero with bold red, white, and blue colors, highlighting the iconic shield and Captain America's strong, unwavering presence. The float also featured a patriotic display of stars and stripes, making it a favorite among many spectators. Several students dressed as Cap himself, sporting his recognizable shield and blue outfit. The sophomores brought a sense of heroism and unity to their float, and their dedication earned them a well-deserved third place.
4th Place: Freshmen – “Guardians of the Galaxy”
Though the freshmen took fourth place, their “Guardians of the Galaxy” themed float was nothing short of spectacular. The float featured colorful designs inspired by the popular Marvel movie, with depictions of Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket, and the rest of the Guardians. The freshmen class had fun with their float, incorporating bright colors and playful elements, reflecting the lively and adventurous spirit of the Guardians. Dressed as the iconic characters, the freshmen really embraced the theme, and their enthusiasm was evident as they paraded down the street with smiles and energy.
